Calling Nigerian Youth: Apply for the Nigeria Climate Youth Negotiators Programme 2026
Applications are now open for the Climate Youth Negotiators Programme (CYNP), an initiative of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC). In line with its responsibility to strengthen Nigeria’s climate governance framework and nurture emerging climate leaders, the Council is seeking qualified young professionals to participate in this capacity-building programme.
The Climate Youth Negotiators Programme is tailored to prepare young public officials with the technical expertise, policy understanding, and diplomatic competencies necessary to actively engage in global climate discussions. Participants will gain practical knowledge and exposure to international climate negotiation platforms, particularly those held under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and other related multilateral processes.
The programme targets early-career government professionals who are currently contributing to climate-related work within public institutions. Through structured learning and mentorship, they will strengthen their ability to represent national interests effectively in international climate policy dialogues.
To be considered, applicants must be Nigerian citizens, between the ages of 18 and 35 at the time of submission, and currently employed within a climate change-related Ministry, Department, or Agency (MDA) of the Government of Nigeria.
