The Climate Leadership Coalition (CLC) is seeking a motivated communications and climate policy trainee to join their Helsinki-based team in autumn 2025. This position offers the chance to become part of a small but highly influential organization that connects nearly one hundred members, ranging from companies and research institutes to cities and universities, all working together to shape climate policy and advance the green transition.

The trainee will gain hands-on experience in both communications and climate policy while supporting CLC’s ongoing initiatives during a critical period leading up to COP30. The role is designed to be dynamic, with tasks adjusted to the trainee’s individual skills and interests. A central part of the work will involve strengthening CLC’s communications, including drafting key messages, helping coordinate activities with members, and ensuring that the organization’s voice resonates within the wider global climate debate. Contributing to the development of CLC’s digital presence, experimenting with new formats, and generating engaging content will also be important aspects of the role.

In addition to communications, the trainee will play a part in strategic projects, which may involve supporting new communication formats, assisting with stakeholder engagement, or contributing to the planning and coordination of campaigns and events. There will also be opportunities to assist in policy-related tasks, including light research, background material preparation, and supporting advocacy efforts. The trainee will help with organizing meetings, reaching out to stakeholders, and preparing relevant content for discussions and events.

This opportunity is aimed at students or recent graduates who are curious about sustainability, climate policy, and communications. Applicants should be confident in English and able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with others. Initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to learn are qualities that will be highly valued. Previous experience in areas such as social media, writing, or event coordination would be considered an advantage.

The position runs for four to six months beginning in October 2025 and is based at CLC’s Helsinki office. The role is full-time with a monthly salary of €2,000, though part-time arrangements may be considered for part of the traineeship. While fluency in English is essential, knowledge of Finnish can be useful, particularly for communication-related work, though it is not required.
