Applications are open for the Commonwealth Youth Photography Competition (CYPC) 2026 organized by the Royal Commonwealth Society in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the City of London Youth Natural Environment Board. The competition is a global platform designed to celebrate creativity, environmental awareness, and storytelling through photography among young people across the Commonwealth.  

The 2026 edition is themed “Waves of Change,” encouraging participants to explore the beauty, importance, and vulnerability of oceans, rivers, waterways, and coastal communities. Young photographers are invited to capture powerful images that highlight environmental challenges, conservation efforts, and the deep connection between people and water ecosystems. The organizers are looking for photographs that inspire action, provoke thought, and communicate stories that words alone may not fully express.  

The competition seeks to amplify youth voices from across the 56 Commonwealth nations while promoting environmental sustainability and creative expression. Through this initiative, participants gain international exposure and the opportunity to showcase their photography to a global audience. The competition also reflects the Royal Commonwealth Society’s commitment to empowering young people and promoting global collaboration around important social and environmental issues.
