Applications are open for the APSA MENA Engaged Research Workshop 2026.
This fully funded program will take place from January 5 to 8, 2026, at the Doha Institute in Doha, Qatar. It is a four-day in-person workshop that focuses on participatory and engaged research in the Middle East and North Africa. The sessions will explore challenges related to fieldwork, original data collection, and the ethical and practical considerations of conducting research in applied contexts. Participants will also gain opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and professional networking with peers and senior academics.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility is open to advanced PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, early-career scholars who earned their PhD within the last five years, and early-career practitioners holding a PhD. Applicants must be citizens of countries in the Middle East and North Africa region and conducting research in political science, development studies, international relations, peace and conflict studies, or related areas. Preference will be given to those currently based at institutions within the region, and applicants must demonstrate fluency in English.
