FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the 2026 FNF Afri GreenPitch Challenge

Applications are open for the 2026 FNF Afri GreenPitch Challenge, a regional entrepreneurship competition designed to identify, showcase, and support innovative green small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Africa. The challenge is organized by GreenCape in partnership with Westerwelle Startup Haus Mombasa and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom. The 2026 edition has expanded beyond South Africa and now welcomes entrepreneurs from several African countries who are building commercially viable solutions to environmental and sustainability challenges. Finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their businesses before investors, industry experts, and ecosystem stakeholders at high-profile pitching events in Nairobi and Cape Town.

The challenge seeks businesses operating in sectors such as circular economy and waste management, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, sustainable mobility, and water and wastewater solutions. Participants will gain exposure to investors, mentorship opportunities, business support, and valuable networking opportunities that can help accelerate the growth of their ventures. Winners and finalists will compete for cash and in-kind prizes valued at approximately USD 20,000.

Successful applicants and finalists will gain access to a powerful ecosystem of investors, business incubators, accelerators, policymakers, and green economy experts. Participants will showcase their businesses during investor-facing pitch competitions and networking events, increasing their visibility and potential to secure partnerships and funding. Finalists will also receive mentorship, investor engagement opportunities, and business growth support designed to strengthen their ventures and improve investment readiness. In addition, winners and finalists will compete for a combination of cash and in-kind prizes worth approximately USD 20,000, helping them further scale their businesses and maximize their impact across Africa’s growing green economy.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be operating a green economy business that has already moved beyond the idea stage and is at least in the pre-growth phase. Eligible businesses should be registered, actively trading, generating sales or revenue, and seeking funding to scale their operations. The competition is intended for SMEs and entrepreneurs with innovative solutions that address sustainability challenges while demonstrating commercial viability and growth potential. Applicants must be able to show market traction, a clear business model, and a need for investment or expansion support. Eligible solutions should fall within one or more of the competition’s focus sectors, including renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, circular economy and waste, sustainable mobility, or water and wastewater management.
