The Acumen Green RISE West Africa Fellowship 2026 is a prestigious leadership development program designed to empower social entrepreneurs who are building innovative solutions in the green economy. Delivered by Acumen Academy in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, this fellowship focuses on supporting entrepreneurs who are tackling poverty while advancing climate-conscious and sustainable business solutions across West Africa.
This highly competitive program equips fellows with practical tools, leadership training, and a strong community of like-minded changemakers working toward inclusive economic growth and environmental sustainability. Participants will engage in a structured six-month hybrid program that combines virtual learning, in-person immersions, and peer collaboration to strengthen their leadership capacity and scale their impact-driven enterprises.
The fellowship places a strong emphasis on creating dignified and sustainable job opportunities for young people, especially women in rural areas, while fostering innovative solutions that contribute to climate resilience and inclusive development in the region.

Additional Information
Participants will join a powerful network of social entrepreneurs through Acumen’s global alumni community known as the Foundry, which includes over 2,000 leaders worldwide. This network provides ongoing opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and long-term professional growth.
Additionally, fellows may gain access to future funding opportunities and accelerator programs such as the Green RISE Africa Accelerator, which supports enterprise growth and impact scaling. While the fellowship itself does not provide direct cash grants, it covers all program-related costs including training, learning sessions, accommodation, and travel for in-person immersions.
Candidates are expected to have at least five years of professional experience and must currently be working full-time in an organization or initiative that promotes social impact through environmentally sustainable practices. Additionally, applicants should demonstrate strong leadership potential, a clear vision for scaling their impact, and a commitment to improving livelihoods while advancing climate-conscious development.
Applicants must also lead or be part of an enterprise with proven traction, including a minimum of five full-time employees and evidence of consistent progress over the past year. There are no strict academic requirements; however, proficiency in English is mandatory as all program activities are conducted in English.
