FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the Africa Youth Negotiators Fellowship (AYNF) – Cohort 4 for young climate advocates and Changemakers
Applications are open for the fourth edition of the Africa Youth Negotiators Fellowship (AYNF), a dynamic initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of African climate negotiators. This pan-African program empowers young leaders from across the continent with advanced skills in climate diplomacy, international negotiations, and strategic engagement to participate effectively in global climate dialogues, particularly those under the UNFCCC framework.
Now in its fourth cycle, the fellowship has grown into a flagship leadership platform that builds a robust and diverse network of African youth negotiators capable of influencing climate-related decisions at the local, continental, and global levels. This year’s program is being led by the Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO), in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Ghana, UNICEF Ghana, and the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN).
The training is designed in two main stages over the span of four weeks. The first stage involves a week-long immersive training hosted in Ghana for on-site participants and also delivered virtually for those joining remotely. This phase offers intensive learning on climate negotiation strategies, the global climate governance system, and regional policy dynamics relevant to Africa. The second stage continues online for three weeks, during which participants are grouped into thematic teams for mentorship sessions, policy simulation exercises, and collaborative assignments tailored toward shaping Africa’s collective stance ahead of COP30 in Brazil.
AYNF responds to the critical need to amplify the voices of young Africans in high-level climate conversations by boosting their policy acumen, technical capabilities, and visibility in multilateral platforms. The program seeks young people between the ages of 15 and 35 who hold citizenship in any African country, are passionate about climate advocacy and diplomacy, and are either engaged or eager to engage with climate policy on a national or international level. Applicants must be fluent in English, as this is the language of delivery, and must be available to participate fully in both the in-person or virtual training and the virtual follow-up phase.
The deadline to submit applications is July 28, 2025, at 11:59 PM GMT. Only those selected for the next stage will be contacted.
