Applications are open for the African Academy for Women in Political Leadership 2026, a transformative leadership initiative designed to strengthen the capacity of women leaders across Africa and support their meaningful participation in politics and governance. Hosted through partnerships involving United Nations Development Programme, the African Union and the African Women Leaders Network, this prestigious academy seeks to equip women with the knowledge, skills, networks, and tools needed to lead effectively, influence decision-making, and advance inclusive democratic governance across the continent. Participants will engage in high-level training, peer exchange, mentorship, and policy dialogue while becoming part of a growing network of women political leaders shaping Africa’s future.  

Women leaders, aspiring politicians, public servants, activists, and changemakers committed to strengthening democratic governance and women’s political participation in Africa are encouraged to apply. The academy is intended to nurture bold, ethical, and transformative leadership while creating pathways for women to take on greater leadership roles in political and public life.
