Applications are open for the AIJC Investigative Journalism Masterclass 2026, an intensive training programme organised by the African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC) in partnership with SKUP, the Association for Critical and Investigative Press in Norway, and Bellingcat. The masterclass is designed to equip experienced African journalists with cutting-edge investigative journalism skills, including digital forensics, open-source intelligence (OSINT), artificial intelligence tools, data verification techniques, and advanced investigative reporting methods. The programme will take place immediately before the African Investigative Journalism Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, offering participants the opportunity to engage with leading investigative journalists and media experts from across the continent and beyond.

Program Benefits

Selected participants will receive a fully funded fellowship covering attendance at the three-day Investigative Journalism Masterclass and the African Investigative Journalism Conference. Fellows may also receive support for major travel and accommodation costs, including return international flights, accommodation, airport transfers, and conference fees. Participants will benefit from hands-on training delivered by experts from Bellingcat and gain valuable networking opportunities with investigative journalists and media professionals from across Africa.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be experienced investigative journalists, editors, or journalism trainers from African countries. Candidates should have a strong track record in investigative journalism, supported by recently published or broadcast work. Applicants are expected to demonstrate their commitment to investigative reporting and their ability to apply the skills acquired during the masterclass in their professional work. Successful candidates must possess a valid passport and be available to attend the full duration of both the masterclass and the African Investigative Journalism Conference.

Eligible Countries

The programme is open to journalists from all African countries. Applicants must be actively involved in journalism or investigative reporting and meet the programme’s professional requirements.
