Applications are open for the DHET China Youth Not in Employment, Education and Training (NEET) International Scholarship Programme at Changchun Technical University of Automobile in China. This fully funded opportunity offers young South Africans the chance to pursue a three-year higher vocational diploma in Hydrogen Energy Technology Application, beginning in November 2025. The programme will initially be delivered in English while students are expected to achieve HSK level 4 in Chinese during their first year of study. It is designed for South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 29 who hold a matric certificate or a vocational secondary education diploma, are in good health, and are able to travel and study in China from October 2025. Applicants must demonstrate an interest in China and a commitment to contributing to South Africa’s development upon completion of their studies.

The scholarship covers all tuition fees, return airfare, a monthly stipend, visa costs, a one-time settlement allowance, pre-departure orientation and psychosocial support throughout the programme. Applications should be submitted with all required documents, including identification, passport, educational certificates, resume, police clearance, medical forms and references, to the Department of Higher Education and Training via email at ChinaNEET@dhet.gov.za no later than 5 September 2025. Successful candidates will be notified by the end of September 2025, with orientation planned for October, departure between 27 and 29 October, and classes scheduled to start on 1 November 2025.
