Fully Funded : Apply For The Harvard Environmental Fellows Program 2026
Applications are open for the Harvard University Center for the Environment 2026 Environmental Fellows Program, an initiative designed to empower early-career researchers tackling the world’s most critical environmental challenges.
Through this two-year fellowship, selected fellows will collaborate with Harvard faculty mentors from any discipline to explore innovative approaches to sustainability, climate science, and environmental policy, while fostering collaboration across the university’s diverse academic network.
Approximately five fellows will be selected to join the 2026 cohort. The program includes a co-curricular series of seminars and biweekly dinners, allowing fellows to engage with faculty, peers, and visiting experts from various disciplines.
Reference and host letters may be submitted until December 10, 2025.

- Relocation reimbursement of up to USD 2,500
- Professional development fund of USD 2,500 per year for travel or research expenses
- Applicants from any university worldwide are eligible, including international scholars.
-Each applicant must identify at least one Harvard faculty host who will act as a mentor and provide workspace during the fellowship.
- Applicants who earned their degree at Harvard may apply only if their proposed research represents a new direction distinct from previous work.
Fellows must be able to reside in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for the duration of the program.
- A five-page research proposal detailing the project’s significance and connection to Harvard’s resources
- Up to three writing samples or publications
- Three letters of reference, including one from the dissertation advisor
- A letter of support from the intended Harvard faculty host
