FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the Ocean Leaders Fellowship 2026 by Sustainable Ocean Alliance For Global Changemakers

Applications are open for the Ocean Leaders Fellowship 2026, a fully funded global leadership programme launched by the Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) in partnership with Dona Bertarelli Philanthropy. This prestigious fellowship empowers young ocean and climate leaders by equipping them with leadership skills, mentorship, practical experience, and opportunities to influence ocean governance and sustainability policy — from local community action to global decision-making spaces. The programme combines weekly virtual learning with an immersive in-person leadership institute and conference participation, giving fellows the tools to lead meaningful change for ocean health and climate resilience.

Fully Funded
Program Benefits
Selected fellows benefit from a fully funded experience that includes access to a comprehensive leadership curriculum focusing on strategic leadership, storytelling, coalition building, and advocacy skills, as well as mentorship from experienced professionals in ocean and climate fields. The fellowship also covers travel, accommodation, visa support, and participation costs for key in-person events — including a global leadership institute and conference where fellows network with international stakeholders, policymakers, and fellow changemakers. Additionally, participants join small peer leadership pods, engage in real-world policy dialogues, and build tools and strategies to drive high-impact campaigns that contribute to global initiatives such as the 30×30 agenda for ocean protection.
Eligibility Criteria
The Ocean Leaders Fellowship is open to young professionals and emerging leaders aged 18–35 who are actively working or strongly interested in ocean conservation, climate action, sustainability, or related fields. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential in one or more of SOA’s five Ocean Impact Areas — such as pollution reduction, greenhouse gas mitigation, ecosystems and species preservation, blue foods, or ocean data and research — and be committed to advancing solutions that protect ocean health and address climate challenges. Candidates must have advanced English proficiency (C1 level) and be available for international travel for the in-person segment of the programme, typically scheduled from 9 to 19 June 2026. There are no specific geographic restrictions, and participants from all nationalities are encouraged to apply, provided they meet the programme’s criteria and can fully engage in both the virtual and in-person components of the fellowship.
