FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the OHCHR Youth4Rights Advisory Group 2026

Applications are open for the 2026 Youth4Rights Advisory Group organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. This initiative is part of the Global Alliance for Human Rights and aims to ensure that young people play a meaningful role in shaping global human rights discussions and actions. The Advisory Group will consist of 12 young leaders from different regions of the world who will contribute youth perspectives to international human rights initiatives, support outreach efforts, and help strengthen youth engagement in the promotion and protection of human rights globally. Selected participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with international stakeholders and contribute to preparations leading up to the 80th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 2028.

Members of the Youth4Rights Advisory Group will gain direct engagement with a major United Nations human rights initiative and contribute to the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of activities under the Global Alliance for Human Rights. Participants will strengthen their leadership, advocacy, communication, and strategic-thinking skills while building valuable international networks with policymakers, human rights defenders, youth leaders, and civil society actors from around the world.

Although participation is voluntary and unpaid, all travel expenses related to approved Global Alliance activities and events will be fully covered. Members may also participate in international forums, consultations, campaigns, and dialogue sessions, gaining valuable exposure and experience within the United Nations human rights system.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be between 18 and 28 years old as of 12 August 2026. Candidates should have at least two years of experience advancing human rights or related causes at the local or national level. The opportunity welcomes a wide range of young changemakers, including human rights advocates, activists, community organizers, social entrepreneurs, innovators, youth leaders, and individuals involved in social transformation initiatives. Applicants must also demonstrate working-level proficiency in English to effectively participate in international discussions and activities. The selection process will prioritize diversity and inclusion, ensuring representation across genders, regions, cultures, and backgrounds.
