Successful projects will receive up to €40,000 per year, with funding available for one to two years. Two-year projects may receive as much as €80,000 in total. In addition to financial support, Pure Ocean offers international recognition, visibility, and the chance to contribute to impactful marine conservation. Funded projects can address marine pollution, biodiversity protection, climate resilience, or advancing ocean science, including innovative 2026 focus areas such as alternatives to petroleum plastics, deep-sea studies, and satellite monitoring to fight illegal fishing.

This grant is open to non-profit organizations such as universities, research institutes, and NGOs worldwide. Collaborative applications that include startups, companies, or private entities are encouraged, provided the lead applicant is a non-profit. Applicants must demonstrate innovation, scientific rigor, and clear impact potential. They are also encouraged to indicate any co-funding sources and present a minimum operational budget in case Pure Ocean does not cover all expenses. Both early-career researchers and established experts are welcome to apply.
