FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the UN Youth4Disarmament Champions Programme 2026–2027

Applications are open for the UN Youth4Disarmament Champions Programme 2026–2027, a prestigious global youth leadership initiative organized by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA). The programme is designed to empower young leaders who are passionate about peace, international security, conflict prevention, and sustainable development. Selected participants will spend one year receiving specialized training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and support to implement youth-led projects that promote peace and security within their communities. Only nine young leaders from around the world will be selected for this highly competitive programme.  

The programme aims to strengthen youth participation in international peace and security discussions while providing practical experience in project development and leadership. Participants will engage with experts, policymakers, and fellow youth advocates from different regions of the world, creating a unique platform for learning, collaboration, and global impact.

Selected Youth4Disarmament Champions will receive comprehensive online training covering peace, security, international cooperation, project management, and leadership development. Participants will benefit from personalized mentorship provided by UNODA staff and experienced experts who will guide them throughout the implementation of their projects. The programme also offers extensive networking opportunities with current and former champions, international experts, policymakers, and United Nations representatives.

Champions will receive financial support through a stipend to help implement their projects or may have the opportunity to contribute to a disarmament-related publication. Participants may also be invited to international meetings, conferences, and policy discussions where they can share their perspectives and engage with global leaders. These opportunities provide valuable international exposure and professional development that can strengthen future careers in public policy, peacebuilding, international relations, and development.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be between 18 and 29 years old at the time of application. Candidates should demonstrate prior knowledge, experience, or a strong interest in peace, security, international affairs, or related fields. Applicants are required to submit a clear and feasible project idea that they would like to implement during the programme. The United Nations is looking for highly motivated young people who are committed to creating positive change in their communities and who are willing to actively participate throughout the one-year programme. Good English language skills, equivalent to at least a B2 level, are required to ensure effective participation in training sessions, mentorship activities, and international engagements.
Eligible Countries
The programme is open globally. Young people from all countries and territories are encouraged to apply. The selected cohort will represent diverse geographical regions, including Africa, Europe, Asia and the Pacific, the Americas, and the Caribbean.
