FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples

Applications are open for the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples, administered by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). This Fund provides full financial support to indigenous representatives so they can take part in United Nations meetings and mechanisms that address issues affecting their communities. These include the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and sessions of the Human Rights Council.

Through this programme, indigenous leaders and representatives are empowered to contribute directly to global decision-making processes, present their communities’ perspectives, and strengthen advocacy for indigenous rights at the international level.

Program Benefits
Selected participants will receive full financial support to attend UN processes. In addition to financial coverage, beneficiaries gain the opportunity to raise their voices at the UN, influence global policies on indigenous rights, and build international advocacy networks. After the programme, participants are encouraged to share the knowledge and experience gained with their local communities, multiplying the impact of their participation.
Eligibility Criteria

They must show that they can actively contribute to discussions on indigenous issues, and every application must include a recommendation letter from their community or organization.

Special consideration is given to applicants from underrepresented regions as well as indigenous women, youth, and persons with disabilities. Generally, no more than two individuals from the same organization may be supported in one year.
