The fellowship provides participants with a comprehensive and transformative leadership development experience. Fellows will receive advanced training in areas such as global health leadership, gender equity, policy advocacy, knowledge translation, mentorship, reflective leadership, and conflict resolution. The curriculum is delivered through innovative online sessions, workshops, expert-led lectures, discussion forums, and practical exercises designed to strengthen both professional and personal leadership capacities.

Participants will also benefit from personalized mentorship from experienced global health professionals and senior leaders working across academia, healthcare systems, research institutions, and policy organizations. The mentorship component is designed to help fellows refine their leadership goals, expand professional networks, and gain guidance for long-term career growth.

One of the major highlights of the fellowship is the fully funded one-week in-person training session. The program covers transportation, accommodation, and meals for this residential training experience, allowing fellows to fully participate without financial burden. In addition, fellows receive a financial support stipend intended to help cover living costs, childcare, eldercare, lost wages, or other expenses that may affect participation in the fellowship program. Fellows will also become part of an alumni network that supports continued collaboration, mentorship, and professional engagement even after the fellowship officially concludes.

The Women in Global Health Leadership Fellowship is intended for African women who are passionate about improving health systems and advancing gender equity in healthcare leadership. Applicants must identify as women and should be in the early to mid-career stage, with approximately 5 to 15 years of professional experience in local, regional, or global health work. Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong leadership potential through professional achievements, academic excellence, or community involvement.

Applicants should possess postgraduate education in Public Health, Health Sciences, Health Policy, or closely related disciplines such as a Master’s degree or PhD. In addition, candidates must currently work in areas connected to public health policy, research, teaching, healthcare delivery, or health systems strengthening. The fellowship seeks individuals who are actively contributing to improving healthcare outcomes and who are committed to promoting inclusive and equitable health systems.

Eligible applicants must be African nationals who currently reside and work in either Kenya or South Africa. Fluency in English is also required since all learning activities and fellowship engagements are conducted in English. Fellows must also be available and willing to participate in the mandatory one-week in-person training component of the program.
