FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council 2026-2027

Applications are open for the World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council 2026-2027. Organized by World Ocean Day and The Ocean Project, the programme seeks to bring together 20–25 exceptional young leaders from around the world who are actively involved in ocean conservation, climate action, and environmental advocacy. Council members work collaboratively to strengthen youth engagement and inspire millions of people to take meaningful action for a healthy ocean and a sustainable future.

Established in 2016, the Youth Advisory Council has grown into a global network of young changemakers, with 173 alumni representing 75 countries. Participants have the opportunity to develop leadership and advocacy skills, contribute to World Ocean Day initiatives, and collaborate with fellow youth leaders on conservation projects throughout the year.

Program Benefits
Selected council members will receive leadership and advocacy training, mentorship opportunities, and global visibility through World Ocean Day platforms. They will collaborate with a network of youth leaders and more than 2,000 organizations across nearly 200 countries, opening doors to future internships, jobs, speaking engagements, and international collaborations.

Members will also have opportunities to publish blog posts, participate in social media campaigns, engage in global conservation events, and contribute ideas that shape the future direction of World Ocean Day and youth-led ocean advocacy initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be between 16 and 25 years old at the time of application and be fluent in English. They should have access to a reliable internet connection and demonstrate previous experience in conservation, environmental advocacy, organizing, or related activities. The programme is looking for young people who are passionate about protecting the ocean and climate, value collaboration, and are eager to strengthen their advocacy, event planning, and leadership skills.

Candidates should be willing to commit to a one-year term, participate in virtual meetings and surveys, engage consistently through digital communication platforms, and contribute actively to World Ocean Day campaigns and initiatives.
Eligible Countries
The Youth Advisory Council accepts applications from all countries around the world. Young leaders from every region are encouraged to apply, particularly those whose countries have not yet been represented within the Council’s alumni network.
