Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Global Studies (EMGS), a prestigious international joint master’s programme supported by the European Union. The programme offers approximately 20–25 competitive Erasmus Mundus scholarships to outstanding students from across the world.
For the 2026 intake, a number of scholarships are specifically reserved for applicants from Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Southern Mediterranean region, Central Asia, and Least Developed Countries in Asia, while applicants from all other regions are also strongly encouraged to apply.
The Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Global Studies is delivered by a highly regarded consortium of European universities, including Leipzig University, Ghent University, Roskilde University, the University of Vienna, and the University of Wrocław. The programme provides interdisciplinary training that equips graduates to critically analyse global processes, governance, development, and transnational challenges from multiple perspectives.
Students enrolled in the programme benefit from a strong international learning environment and the opportunity to study across different European countries. In addition, the programme partners with leading non-European universities in Canada, the United States, Australia, China, India, South Africa, Ethiopia, New Zealand, and Cameroon, allowing selected students to spend a study term outside Europe and gain valuable global exposure.
Graduates of the programme are well prepared for careers in international organizations, research institutions, non-governmental organizations, policy think tanks, development agencies, and academia. Since its establishment in 2005, the programme has built a strong reputation for academic excellence and alumni success and was previously recognized by DAAD as one of the Top 10 International Master’s Degree Programmes.
