Applications are now open for the Thomson Foundation Network, a global initiative aimed at strengthening journalism, media integrity, and ethical reporting. The network brings together journalists, media trainers, researchers, and fact-checkers from across Africa, the Middle East, and other regions to participate in capacity-building programs, peer-to-peer training, and professional networking.
By joining the network, media professionals gain access to mentorship, training programs, and opportunities to influence media development initiatives, including fact-checking, verification, and AI-driven journalism projects. Additional Information
Those selected for the AI and Media Innovation Consultancy will provide strategic guidance on AI integration in media, participate in research projects, and help develop best-practice tools for newsrooms, gaining exposure to international media development initiatives. Trainers and Researchers will facilitate workshops, mentor early-career journalists, and conduct applied research, with opportunities to expand professional networks and influence journalism education.
Across all programs, participants benefit from access to global networks of media professionals, opportunities to present work in international forums, and the ability to develop new skills, contribute to high-impact projects, and gain professional recognition. This network also provides ongoing support, resources, and potential consultancy engagements for members who want to continue contributing to media innovation and capacity-building initiatives.
Depending on the program, eligibility may vary slightly: For the Fact-Checking Ambassadors Program in Uganda, applicants must be mid-career journalists or media professionals based in Uganda, with experience in newsroom verification and peer-to-peer training. For the AI and Media Innovation Consultancy, applicants should have experience in AI tools, digital journalism, or media strategy, while Trainers and Researchers must have experience in journalism training, mentoring, or media research. Overall, candidates should be based in Africa, the Middle East, or other regions where the Thomson Foundation runs programs, and should be willing to actively participate in network initiatives.
