FULLY FUNDED TO BRUNEI: Apply for the Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarships 2026/27
Applications are currently being accepted for the Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship for the 2026/2027 academic year. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs invites eligible international candidates to apply for the Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarship to Foreign Students, which enables successful applicants to undertake full-time studies in Brunei Darussalam during the specified academic session. The award supports studies at diploma, bachelor’s, and postgraduate master’s levels across several public higher education institutions in the country, with the academic year scheduled to begin in July or August 2026.
Selected applicants may enroll at recognised institutions including Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan, and Politeknik Brunei. The scholarship is designed to attract international students who wish to pursue formal education in Brunei for the first time, and individuals holding permanent resident status in Brunei Darussalam are not eligible to apply.
To qualify, candidates must meet age and language requirements at the time their chosen programme begins. They must not be older than twenty-five years for diploma or undergraduate studies, or older than thirty-five years for postgraduate master’s programmes, as of the first day of July in the year of entry. Applicants are also required to demonstrate adequate proficiency in English through recognised qualifications such as an acceptable pass in GCE O-Level English, a minimum grade of C in IGCSE English as a second language, or valid TOEFL or IELTS scores that meet the stated minimum standards.
The scholarship covers a wide range of financial and practical support for the duration of the programme. Recipients are exempted from paying tuition-related costs, including registration, examination, orientation, and acceptance fees. They are provided with economy-class air travel to Brunei Darussalam at the start of their studies and a return ticket upon completion. Financial support also includes a monthly personal stipend, a monthly food allowance, and an annual allocation for books and study materials. Accommodation is arranged within university or polytechnic residential facilities, and a baggage shipment allowance is granted at the end of the programme, with the amount determined by the recipient’s country of origin. In addition, comprehensive medical insurance is provided for the full scholarship period, although recipients are encouraged to obtain extra coverage at their own expense if necessary.
Scholarship holders are expected to comply fully with all conditions attached to the award. They must follow the regulations governing the scholarship and those set by their host institution, respect the laws, traditions, culture, and official religion of Brunei Darussalam, and avoid involvement in political activities. They may also be required to undergo medical examinations in Brunei Darussalam if requested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
