Applications are now being accepted for the 2026/2027 cycle of the Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship—a unique initiative made possible through collaboration between the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and Clore Leadership. This prestigious opportunity is designed for mid-career professionals working in the arts and cultural sectors, offering them a personalised leadership development experience in the United Kingdom. Each year, up to five international fellows are selected to join a group of around 20 participants, drawn from both within the UK and globally.

The fellowship targets individuals who are driving progress in fields such as performing and visual arts, heritage and conservation, libraries and museums, cultural policy, film, digital media, and more. Successful applicants will engage in a carefully curated leadership journey, shaped to fit their professional goals and learning needs. The experience is hosted in the UK and features immersive elements like residential leadership training, practical workshops, and a digital event focused on climate action. Fellows also benefit from a comprehensive leadership skills assessment and will be placed on a secondment with a UK-based cultural organisation. This secondment is designed to expose them to a new working environment, often different from their usual field, where they will contribute to real-time projects initiated by the host organisation.

Participants will have access to unique educational experiences tailored to their areas of interest. These may include conferences, specialised training, sector visits, and networking engagements. Additionally, each fellow receives one-on-one guidance from a dedicated mentor or coach throughout the fellowship. They will also be expected to develop thought leadership by producing a written paper that reflects their perspectives and ideas on a chosen topic.

Eligibility for this fellowship is limited to applicants who are citizens and residents of specific countries at the time of applying. These include Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Mexico, and South Africa. Individuals must intend to return to their home country after completing the programme and should possess at least a UK-equivalent second-class honours degree or have similar professional qualifications or experience. A minimum of five years of work experience is required. Candidates must demonstrate a strong command of the English language and will be assessed accordingly. Those with British or dual citizenship are ineligible, as are current or recent employees of the UK Government or affiliated institutions. Applicants who previously received a UK Government-funded award may reapply only after a five-year interval, provided they can show career development since that time.

The fellowship offers comprehensive support during the programme, including a training budget to cover return travel between the fellow’s home country and the UK, living costs, accommodation, and participation in secondment activities. Costs related to UK-based conferences, courses, and travel within the UK are also covered under this funding. Fellows will benefit from a bespoke professional development plan that supports their specific learning objectives, allowing them to engage meaningfully with the UK’s cultural landscape.
