Selected fellows will receive substantial support throughout the fellowship, including a monthly stipend of USD 500 for the four-month program to support their participation. Beyond financial support, fellows will gain access to expert mentorship from Code for Africa specialists and partner organizations, practical experience designing and deploying AI-powered solutions for real-world challenges, and exposure to regional and international networks in technology and human rights. Participants will also have the opportunity to develop and showcase capstone projects, strengthen their technical and professional portfolios, and build valuable collaborations that can continue beyond the fellowship. Eligibility Criteria
This fellowship is open to applicants from eligible African countries, particularly from the Sahel and neighboring West and East African countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Ethiopia, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Togo. Applicants should have demonstrated experience or a strong background in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, prompt engineering, computational research or related technical fields. Candidates should also show commitment to ethical technology, digital rights, civic innovation or public interest technology initiatives. The fellowship is particularly suited for individuals interested in applying AI tools to support nonprofits, advocacy groups and social impact organizations. Experience with open-source technologies, collaborative projects and multilingual ability in English, French or Arabic can be an added advantage.
