FUNDED: Apply for the Climate Justice Camp Asia 2026 for young changemakers
Applications are open for the 2026 Climate Justice Camp taking place in Cebu from August 12–16, bringing together grassroots organizers, activists, and community leaders from across Asia and the wider diaspora. This landmark gathering marks the first time the regional edition is being hosted in Asia, creating a powerful space for individuals committed to driving change within their communities to connect, collaborate, and exchange ideas.
This global platform has grown into one of the most impactful in-person convenings for community-led action, uniting hundreds of participants each year to strengthen networks, share practical knowledge, and co-create solutions for pressing social and environmental challenges. Since its launch, nearly 2,000 changemakers from more than 100 countries have taken part in previous editions held in Tunisia, Lebanon, Tanzania, and Mexico, alongside regional gatherings in the Caribbean and Latin America.
The upcoming edition in the Philippines is open to individuals based in Asia, members of the Asian diaspora worldwide, and participants from Pacific Island communities. It is designed for those actively engaged in advancing justice-related work, whether in climate action, environmental protection, human rights, gender equality, Indigenous advocacy, water access, or related fields, offering a dynamic environment to build partnerships and strengthen impact.
Participation in the camp comes at no cost, with organizers covering accommodation, meals, and local transport during the program. Attendees are expected to arrange and fund their own travel to Cebu, including any visa requirements, although limited financial assistance may be available for selected applicants, provided as reimbursements upon arrival.
The initiative is coordinated by Roots in collaboration with a diverse network of regional and international partners. Built on a spirit of shared ownership, the experience is shaped jointly by participants and supporting organizations, ensuring that discussions, sessions, and outcomes reflect real community needs and lived experiences while fostering meaningful, long-term collaboration.
