FUNDED: Apply for the UN Global Compact’s Young SDG Innovators Programme 2026 for young changemakers and professionals
Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 edition of the UN Global Compact’s Young SDG Innovators Programme. This initiative, known as the SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals, presents an extraordinary chance for young employees working within companies that are part of the UN Global Compact network. It is designed to inspire and empower emerging talent to work together in developing creative business solutions that support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Over the course of nine months, the programme provides an immersive and dynamic learning journey aimed at nurturing the next generation of forward-thinking business leaders and changemakers. Participants are guided through the process of designing, testing, and implementing innovative ideas that integrate sustainability into core business practices. Through exposure to new technologies, modern business strategies, and global sustainability principles, young professionals are encouraged to rethink conventional models and apply fresh approaches that contribute to both organizational growth and sustainable development.
To be eligible, participants must be exceptional young professionals currently employed at companies that are members of the UN Global Compact. They should be 35 years of age or younger, possess a strong interest in sustainability, innovative business models, and emerging technologies, and be willing to commit at least four hours per month to structured learning sessions. In addition, participants are expected to attend a minimum of four full-day workshops throughout the programme period.
Those selected for the accelerator gain access to a transformative learning experience that combines virtual and in-person engagements. They will take part in workshops, peer learning sessions, company visits, and real-world case studies designed to strengthen their leadership, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The programme also provides access to global experts and mentors who guide participants through their innovation journeys. Beyond the learning experience, participants benefit from a strong international network of professionals representing diverse sectors, enabling collaboration, mentorship, and cross-border innovation opportunities.
Companies that support their young professionals in this programme also stand to gain significant value. They are given the opportunity to apply the principles of SDG innovation directly to ongoing business challenges, embedding sustainability into the company’s operational and strategic frameworks. The initiative enhances employee engagement, fosters professional growth, and promotes knowledge exchange across industries. Moreover, participating organizations receive international recognition for their commitment to advancing sustainable business practices and contributing to the global SDG agenda.
The programme is delivered through multiple tracks designed to suit different regions and organizational needs. In-country tracks operate in local languages and time zones, offering live and on-demand sessions, hands-on guidance, and opportunities for peer collaboration. The Africa Track connects companies from Egypt and the Indian Ocean region under the same curriculum, while the Global Track, conducted entirely in English, accommodates companies from countries without a national UN Global Compact network. All workshops under the global track are hosted virtually, allowing participants to engage regardless of location, though participation is limited due to space constraints.
The application window runs from 15 October 2025 to 31 January 2026, with an information session scheduled for 2 December 2025. The accelerator officially begins in February 2026 and concludes in September 2026. Through this initiative, young professionals are given the platform to transform their innovative ideas into actionable solutions that not only drive business success but also advance the shared global mission of sustainable development.
