The United Nations Office of Legal Affairs (Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea – DOALOS) is offering an internship opportunity for highly motivated individuals seeking hands-on experience in ocean affairs and the law of the sea within an international, multicultural environment.
Location: New York
Duration: 2–6 months (Start date between 12 January – 31 July 2026)
About the Role
Interns will contribute to legal research, review official documents, draft reports, support conference services, prepare presentations, and assist with meetings. This role is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of ocean affairs while enabling them to develop practical skills in a high-level intergovernmental setting.

This is an unpaid, full-time internship (a hybrid or remote arrangement may be considered).

Additional Information
Applicants must be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a degree in law or a closely related field. They should meet one of the following:
Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate programme (second degree or higher)
Be enrolled in or have completed the final year of a first university degree (minimum Bachelor’s level)
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French or another UN official language is an asset.
