Applications are open for the position of Youth Climate Council Uganda Coordinator with Green Africa Youth Organization Uganda (GAYO). This is a two-year renewable contract based in Kampala, Uganda, reporting to the Programs Manager, with an immediate start date. The Coordinator will lead the next phase of institutional growth and youth climate engagement under the Youth Climate Council (YCC) Uganda, working closely with government institutions, development partners, youth-led organizations, and the Youth Climate Council Global Alliance to ensure meaningful youth representation in climate decision-making spaces.

YCC Uganda serves as an advisory platform to the Ministry of Water and Environment and works in partnership with the Climate Change Department to strengthen youth participation in national climate processes. The Coordinator will provide strategic leadership and overall direction of YCC Uganda, strengthen governance structures, oversee regional coordination, and enhance youth engagement in national and international climate policy processes. The role also involves stakeholder engagement, resource mobilization, partnership building, capacity development for young climate leaders, policy advocacy, monitoring and evaluation, and strengthening communication and visibility systems to amplify youth voices across Uganda.

The ideal candidate should have at least three years of professional experience in climate policy, environmental management, or movement building, with proven experience in project management and stakeholder engagement. Strong knowledge of Uganda’s climate governance landscape, strategic planning ability, analytical and reporting skills, and high integrity are essential. Experience working with youth-led organizations and multi-stakeholder platforms is required, while a Master’s degree in a relevant field and exposure to international climate processes will be an added advantage.

The position is full-time at 40 hours per week, with a gross monthly salary of UGX 1,500,000. Applicants must be between 20 and 35 years of age in line with organizational policy.
