Call for Nominations: Commonwealth Youth Council Executive Positions (2024-2026)
The Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) is seeking nominations for young leaders to fill executive positions for the 2024-2026 term. The nomination period closes on August 12, 2024, and elected candidates will assume office from October 2024 to October 2026.
Eligible candidates must:
- Be at least 15 years old at nomination and under 30 years old for the entire term
- Have a minimum of three years of experience in national and/or regional/international youth leadership
- Demonstrate advocacy experience
- Be a citizen of a Commonwealth country (residency not required)
Available positions include:
- Chairperson (open to African region applicants only)
- Vice Chairperson roles in Inclusion and Engagement, Partnerships and Resources, and Policy and Advocacy (open to all Commonwealth citizens)
- Regional Representatives for Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Europe and Canada, and Pacific regions
- Representative for Special Interest Groups (open to marginalized or vulnerable groups, such as Indigenous people or people with disabilities)
Nominees must be endorsed by a national youth council or youth-led organization. The CYC, established in 2013, represents over 1.5 billion young people from 56 Commonwealth member countries, working to empower communities and shape the future.
