Applications are now open for the 2026 Heroes of Tomorrow: UN SDG Action Awards, a global recognition programme celebrating individuals and initiatives advancing sustainable development, social justice, and climate resilience worldwide.

The awards are powered by the UN SDG Action Campaign and hosted by the United Nations Development Programme, bringing international visibility to changemakers transforming communities through innovative and impactful solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

About the Awards

The Heroes of Tomorrow initiative highlights people and projects creating meaningful change across societies. Selected finalists will participate in a global programme combining:

• Leadership coaching and capacity development
• International exposure and storytelling opportunities
• Networking with global development leaders and innovators
• Participation in the official awards ceremony in Rome, Italy

The 2026 Awards Ceremony will take place on 29 October 2026 and will be broadcast globally through international media platforms.

Award Categories

1. Changemaker Award

Recognizes individuals leading collective action toward:

• Equality and inclusion
• Peacebuilding and social justice
• Community transformation with measurable impact

Eligibility: Individual applicants or self-nominations.

2. Creativity Award

Celebrates initiatives using creativity, arts, storytelling, or innovation to:

• Inspire behavioural change
• Influence policy or public awareness
• Mobilize communities for sustainable development

Eligibility: Organizations, initiatives, or projects.

3. Resilience Award

Honours initiatives strengthening resilience against:

• Climate change impacts
• Conflict and inequality
• Economic or social disruptions

Eligibility: Initiatives demonstrating adaptability and lasting results.
