With over five decades of impact in more than 70 countries, Cultural Survival is entering a dynamic new chapter—and they are searching for a visionary leader to help drive it forward.

As the organization grows, so does its need for bold, strategic coordination across advocacy, communications, and media. The Director of Advocacy and Communications will step into a pivotal leadership position that bridges local, regional, and global strategies to ensure Indigenous voices and movements remain central to international conversations and change. The person in this role will not just manage teams—they’ll help weave a unified vision across continents and campaigns, amplifying the stories, struggles, and leadership of Indigenous communities around the world.

This is a full-time, fully remote position, open to applicants from anywhere in the world. The successful candidate will guide teams including Indigenous Rights Radio, Communications, Advocacy, and Special Projects, collaborating closely with the Executive Director and other senior leaders. They’ll also represent the organization in high-profile global spaces—from media platforms to UN forums—while anchoring every message in the wisdom and priorities of Indigenous partners.

Fluency in English and Spanish is required, and knowledge of an Indigenous language is an asset. Applicants should bring experience in Indigenous rights, grassroots advocacy, communications, or movement-building—whether through formal roles or community-rooted work. Cultural Survival values nontraditional career paths and strongly encourages Indigenous applicants, women, LGBTQ2S+ individuals, and people from structurally excluded backgrounds to apply, even if they don’t meet every single listed qualification.

Compensation is locally adjusted based on the cost of living in your country, with U.S.-based salaries ranging from $100,000 to $132,000 USD and equivalent structures for other regions.
