The Migration Youth & Children Platform is inviting applications for the position of Junior Policy Officer for its 2026 cycle. This part-time role offers young professionals the chance to contribute directly to global migration governance while working with one of the leading youth-led platforms in the international migration space.

About the Organisation

MYCP serves as the global voice of young people in international migration policy processes. It functions as the Migration Constituency of the UN Major Group for Children and Youth and represents youth at the Global Forum for Migration and Development. The Secretariat team manages funded activities, coordination, administration and external engagement for the Platform—making this a dynamic moment to join its core operations.

Role Summary

The Junior Policy Officer will work closely with the Global Coordinator and the Secretariat to support the Platform’s advocacy, policy engagement and internal management. The position includes research, drafting contributions to global migration processes such as the Global Compact for Migration, coordinating programmatic work, and maintaining internal systems to ensure strong reporting and organisational effectiveness.

Key Duties

Secretariat & Administrative Support (30%)

• Assist in the day-to-day functioning of the Secretariat, Council and Coordination Team

• Keep organised records of meetings, documents and official communications

• Support basic financial tracking, budget updates and donor-related administration

• Contribute to grant proposal preparation and external documentation

Internal Coordination (30%)

• Facilitate coordination across the International Council and wider teams

• Help plan and organise internal and external meetings, agendas and briefings

• Share regular updates on ongoing activities and progress

• Support the Youth Committee focused on Migration & Displacement Data

Policy & Advocacy (40%)

• Conduct targeted desk research on issues affecting children and youth in migration

• Assist with drafting MYCP policy statements, submissions and advocacy outputs

• Monitor global, regional and national policy developments and produce briefs

• Coordinate with partners, youth organisations and volunteer teams

• Compile resources, updates and inputs for MYCP’s engagement in external processes

Desirable

• First-hand experience with migration or displacement

• Knowledge of a second UN language

• Prior involvement in policy, advocacy, human rights or migration-related processes

Position Details

• Contract Duration: January–December 2026 (renewal dependent on funding)

• Hours: 20 hours per week
