Applications are now open for the Africa-Europe Youth Academy (AEYA) Call for Projects 2026, a funding opportunity designed to support youth-led and youth-focused organizations working to strengthen leadership, civic engagement, and skills development across Africa.
As part of the European Union’s Youth Action Plan and Global Gateway Africa-Europe Investment Package, the initiative seeks to establish or strengthen community-based Spaces for Youth that empower young people and promote inclusive development.
The application deadline is 6 August 2026 (11:59 PM EAT/GMT+3). An online information session for prospective applicants will take place on 20 July 2026 to provide guidance on the application process and eligibility requirements.
This initiative offers youth organizations a valuable opportunity to expand their impact, strengthen community engagement, and contribute to sustainable development while building lasting partnerships between Africa and Europe.

- Be established in one of the eligible countries: Cameroon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, or Zambia.
- Have at least one year of legal existence before the application deadline.
- Be apolitical, non-partisan, and non-discriminatory.
- Demonstrate basic financial management and accountability systems.
- Propose a project that establishes or strengthens a Space for Youth serving young people aged 18–30.
- Implement the project locally over a period of 6–12 months.
- Ensure meaningful participation of young women, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable or marginalized youth, including those affected by conflict or climate change.
- Be youth-led (at least 75% of governance members aged 18–30) or youth-focused (at least 75% of beneficiaries aged 18–30).
- Submit a project that aligns with the programme’s objectives of youth leadership, civic engagement, inclusion, and sustainable development.
