Applications are open for the Movement Building Volunteers programme with Africans Rising for Unity, Justice, Peace & Dignity, a continental movement that brings together individuals, grassroots groups, and organisations working to advance unity, justice, peace, and dignity across Africa. This opportunity invites passionate changemakers, youth leaders, organisers, and community mobilisers to support the expansion of the movement by strengthening local networks, recruiting new members, and coordinating engagement activities that connect communities to a broader Pan-African platform. Volunteers will play an active role in amplifying local voices, supporting campaigns, and building solidarity across regions while contributing to meaningful social change at both grassroots and continental levels.

Selected volunteers will gain practical, hands-on experience in movement building, organising, and network development at a continental level. The role offers opportunities to strengthen leadership, coordination, communication, and advocacy skills while working closely with diverse activists and organisations across Africa. Participants will expand their professional and activist networks, learn from experienced organisers, and contribute directly to impactful campaigns and initiatives that promote justice and dignity. Although the position is unpaid, the exposure, learning opportunities, and connections gained can significantly enhance future academic, professional, and advocacy pathways.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should be individuals who are already engaged or interested in community work, activism, youth organising, or grassroots mobilisation within their local contexts. You are expected to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and a genuine commitment to social justice, civic participation, and Pan-African values. Experience in outreach, facilitation, campaigning, digital communication, or coordinating community initiatives will be highly beneficial. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of additional regional languages such as French, Portuguese, Arabic, or Kiswahahili is considered an advantage. Volunteers must be able to dedicate approximately six to eight hours per week and participate in virtual meetings and occasional in-person engagements where possible.
