VOLUNTEERING : 1,000 Virtual Volunteers Invited – Global Youth Digital Mobilization for the Palestine Marathon Edition (2026)

Applications are open for Young people around the world to take part in a large-scale digital solidarity campaign supporting the Virtual Edition of the Palestine Marathon. A total of 1,000 online volunteers will be selected to contribute over an eight-week period, dedicating between 1–5 hours per week.

The initiative is hosted by UNFPA under the Online Volunteering modality of United Nations Volunteers (UNV).

About the Initiative

The Palestine Marathon begins at Manger Square near the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and passes through surrounding communities. Beyond being a sporting event, it serves as a platform promoting youth empowerment, dignity, women’s participation, cultural resilience, and freedom of movement.

Through its Virtual Edition, participants worldwide can run from their own cities while contributing to a unified global act of solidarity. The digital mobilization campaign aims to expand participation and visibility by engaging youth networks across continents.

Volunteer Contributions

Selected online volunteers will support one of several specialized teams:

1. International Youth Mobilization Team (300 volunteers)

  • Share the official registration link

  • Engage universities, youth groups, and sports clubs

  • Encourage country-based registrations
    Deliverable: At least two youth networks identified or mobilized

2. Digital Campaign & Creative Media Team (200 volunteers)

  • Develop slogans and digital storytelling content

  • Produce posts, reels, videos, or graphics

  • Highlight youth leadership and women’s participation
    Deliverable: Weekly digital content bundles

3. Multilingual Promotion Team (100 volunteers)

  • Translate and adapt promotional materials

  • Ensure cross-cultural messaging consistency
    Deliverable: Multilingual outreach toolkit

4. Online Media & Influencer Engagement Team (100 volunteers)

  • Identify youth influencers, bloggers, journalists

  • Share media kits and support amplification
    Deliverable: Influencer outreach summary

5. Youth Live Digital Reporting Team (200 volunteers)

  • Provide real-time updates across time zones

  • Conduct short participant interviews
    Deliverable: Live reporting threads

6. Sports Promotion Content Team (150 volunteers)

  • Develop youth-focused fitness and health content

  • Promote running culture and well-being
    Deliverable: One approved sports-awareness piece

7. Youth Feedback & Impact Analytics Team (150 volunteers)

  • Collect and synthesize participant feedback

  • Compile engagement insights
    Deliverable: Post-event impact summary

Important Notes

  • This is a short-term, task-based online volunteer assignment.

  • Online Volunteers are not contracted UN Volunteers and do not receive financial compensation.

  • Participants who successfully complete their assignments will receive an official UNV certificate of appreciation.

  • No application or processing fees are charged at any stage.
