With $20,000 Funding : Apply for the Circular Economy Innovation Competition 2026 for Waste and Materials Innovators
A regional innovation competition is now open for entrepreneurs, researchers, and startups developing practical solutions that transform waste into economic value and reduce landfill dependence.
Organised by the Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPWMA), the Circular Economy Innovation Competition enters its fourth year with a focus on advancing technologies, products, and systems that improve material recovery, lower waste-related costs, and strengthen domestic supply chains through circular economy approaches.
The programme supports innovators working at the intersection of waste management, materials science, and market-ready solutions, with an emphasis on projects capable of moving from concept to real-world application.

Finalists will participate in an in-person pitch competition, where selected projects will be evaluated by industry and technical experts.
Track Record of the Programme
Previous editions of the competition have supported ventures tackling hard-to-recycle materials and emerging waste challenges. Past award recipients include companies repurposing inner tubes, textile waste, and composite materials into new consumer and industrial products. In 2025, the grand prize was awarded to CRDC Global, along with strategic planning and technical support.
