Overview
The Youth Climate Council (YCC) is an initiative designed to improve youth involvement in climate and environmental decision-making. Implemented by the Green Africa Youth Organization, YCC Ghana seeks to provide youth-led organizations, individuals, and civil society with an official platform to engage in policy discussions, regardless of their geographical location or resources. It also serves as a hub for sharing expertise and providing financial, technical, and knowledge resources. YCC Ghana aims to foster a unified movement that generates significant positive impact across Ghana, Africa, and the Global South.

TERMS OF REFERENCE (ToR)

Position Title: Research and Policy Officer
Duration: 2 years
Time Commitment: Full-time
Location: YCC Secretariat, Greater Accra
Start Date: January 1st, 2025
Monthly Allowance: GHS 3000 (net) plus Health Benefits

Position Summary
The Research and Policy Officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating YCC's research activities. This role involves providing technical expertise related to the policy engagement of youth climate organizations in Ghana, both at the regional and national levels. The officer will ensure that the research conducted aligns with international climate frameworks and environmental policies, and will lead the development of research papers, reports, briefs, and policy recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design research methodologies and frameworks.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research.
• Produce publications, policy briefs, and opinion articles in YCC’s thematic areas.
• Align research with key global climate conventions and frameworks (e.g., Sendai Framework, SDGs, Paris Agreement, UNCCD).
• Identify research needs and gaps in the climate sector.
• Generate high-quality research outputs, including analysis, reports, presentations, and publications.
• Facilitate partnerships and dialogues with key stakeholders.
• Ensure that YCC’s work is participatory and inclusive, collaborating with peer researchers and effectively communicating with various audiences.
