FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the Islamic Development Bank undergraduate, masters and PhD scholarship Programme 2025/26

Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Scholarship Programme, offering opportunities for Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD studies. This initiative is part of IsDB’s broader mission to strengthen human capital in its member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries, with the goal of driving sustainable development through education. The programme targets talented individuals with a passion for making positive contributions to their societies, particularly in fields aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Launched in 1983, the IsDB Scholarship Programme is designed not only to offer financial assistance but also to serve as a development tool. It operates on the principle of empowering individuals while fostering community development. The support provided is structured as an interest-free loan (Qard Hasan) to the recipients and a grant to their home communities. Graduates are expected to repay the loan once they secure employment, enabling the programme to continue supporting future students. Additionally, beneficiaries are encouraged to give back to their communities by applying their knowledge to local development initiatives.

Applicants must secure admission to one of the top 10 public or government universities in their home countries. If obtaining admission locally is not possible due to exceptional circumstances, the IsDB may facilitate placements in universities within member countries that have established agreements with the bank. However, final admission decisions depend on the acceptance policies of the respective institutions.

The scholarship covers a wide range of expenses to ease the financial burden on students. It includes a monthly living stipend tailored to the cost of living in the country of study, tuition fees (subject to IsDB approval), medical treatment at university or government hospitals, and economy-class return air tickets. Students studying abroad at partner universities are also eligible for installation and equipment allowances.

The IsDB offers six different scholarship categories under this programme. These include the IsDB-The World Academy of Science (TWAS) Joint Programme for Capacity Building and Technology Transfer, Undergraduate Programme, Master’s Programme, PhD and Post-Doctoral Research Programme, IsDB-ISFD Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET) for the 21 Least Developed Member Countries (LDMCs), and IsDB-ISFD Bachelor’s Programme for LDMCs. The scholarship’s unique approach blends education with community service, ensuring that its impact extends far beyond the individual beneficiaries to uplift entire communities.
