Applications are now open for the 2027 Yves Rocher Foundation Terre de Femmes International Award, an international funding opportunity supporting women who are leading environmental conservation projects centred on trees in urban areas. The award aims to recognise and support initiatives that make cities greener, healthier and more resilient through practical tree conservation and urban greening activities.

The theme for the 2027 edition is “Trees in the City”, highlighting the importance of trees in addressing climate change, reducing urban temperatures, improving air quality, protecting biodiversity and creating healthier communities. The Foundation seeks to support projects that place trees at the heart of urban environments through concrete actions implemented by non-profit organisations.

Eligible initiatives may include urban environmental education programmes involving children, schools and local communities, community orchards and urban agroforestry systems, the preservation of heritage trees, the establishment of tree nurseries for native or endangered species, and the restoration or creation of green spaces in urban and peri-urban areas. Projects focused on re-greening densely populated neighbourhoods, streets, rooftops, schools, hospitals, parks, riverbanks and other built-up areas are also encouraged.

The competition is open to women of legal age of any nationality residing anywhere in the world, as well as groups of women committed to nature conservation and tree protection. Applicants must lead a concrete project implemented through a non-profit organisation, such as an association, foundation or NGO, that has been established for at least one year. The initiative must demonstrate a clear commitment to environmental conservation and the role of trees in improving urban environments.

Two winning projects will be selected worldwide, with each receiving a €10,000 grant to support its activities. Successful applicants will also join a community of women working to advance environmental conservation and sustainable development.
