Applications are now open for the 2027 French Government Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme, an initiative of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs designed to attract outstanding international students to French higher education institutions. The programme aims to develop future leaders from the public and private sectors by supporting talented students pursuing Master’s and doctoral studies in priority academic fields.

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme offers international students an opportunity to pursue postgraduate education in France while gaining advanced academic knowledge, professional exposure and international experience. Candidates must be nominated by eligible French higher education institutions rather than applying directly to Campus France.

The scholarship supports studies in seven priority fields across science and technology, as well as humanities and social sciences. Eligible fields include Biology and Health, Ecological Transition, Mathematics and Digital, Engineering Sciences, History, French Language and Civilisation, Law and Political Science, and Economics and Management.

Eligible Levels of Study

The programme supports students admitted to Master’s degree programmes, engineering programmes and joint doctoral programmes involving joint supervision of a dissertation and/or a dual degree in partnership with a foreign institution.

Scholarship Duration

At the Master’s level, the scholarship may be awarded for up to 12 months for students entering the second year (M2), up to 24 months for those entering the first year (M1), and up to 36 months for students pursuing an engineering degree.

At the doctoral level, the scholarship is awarded for a period of 12 to 36 months, beginning on September 1 of the year in which the scholarship is awarded.

Scholarship Benefits

Master’s scholarship recipients receive a monthly allowance of €1,200, effective January 2026, alongside additional services that may include international and domestic transportation, insurance, assistance with finding accommodation and cultural activities.

Doctoral scholarship recipients receive a monthly allowance of €2,100, effective January 2026, together with additional services such as international and domestic transportation, insurance, assistance with accommodation searches and cultural activities.

Please note that tuition fees are not covered by the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme. Applicants should confirm the applicable tuition costs and any available exemptions with their chosen French institution.

Application Timeline

The application period opens on October 2, 2026. French higher education institutions must submit their candidates’ applications to Campus France by January 6, 2027. Scholarship results are expected to be communicated to successful candidates and their institutions by email during the week of April 12, 2027.

The programme also lists a webinar for institutions on November 4, 2027; applicants should verify this date against the official programme calendar, as it falls after the January 2027 application deadline.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should identify French higher education institutions offering their preferred Master’s or doctoral programmes and contact the relevant admissions or international relations office to express their interest in the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship. Applicants cannot submit their applications directly to Campus France. The French institution must select and nominate candidates and submit their applications within the official deadline.
