The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of British Columbia (UBC) will host 171 scholars over ten years, including undergraduates and master's students. To apply for the Master's Degree Program, applicants must have a Bachelor's degree, be under 35 years old, and be citizens or refugees from Sub-Saharan African countries. They should have faced financial challenges, shown academic excellence despite difficulties, and display leadership potential. Applicants must commit to returning to Africa after their studies and require a Canadian study permit. The application involves checking eligibility, taking English proficiency tests if needed, submitting the application by December 1, 2023, and applying to UBC faculties. The university will nominate candidates in February 2024, followed by a selection process and video interviews for shortlisted candidates in April 2024.
