Applications are open for the Global Capacity Building Coalition (GCBC) 2026 – a Climate Finance Capacity Building Opportunity, a global initiative supporting organizations that are helping emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs) strengthen their capacity to design and implement effective country platforms for climate and development finance.
The Accelerator is aimed at organizations with practical, scalable solutions that can help governments and institutions move from climate and development ambitions to credible investment strategies and implementation.
What the GCBC Accelerator Supports
The programme is particularly interested in initiatives working in four areas:
- Strengthening enabling environments – improving governance, stakeholder coordination, institutional structures, and mechanisms for mobilizing capital.
- Improving planning – supporting policy roadmaps, sectoral modelling, readiness assessments, and investment pipeline development.
- Overcoming financing barriers – helping countries develop financial models, business cases, and approaches for attracting catalytic and private capital.
- Supporting implementation – strengthening project preparation, transaction advisory, investment readiness, and technical assistance.

The Accelerator is particularly interested in organizations with strong local or regional knowledge, practical experience, and solutions that can be scaled.

About the GCBC Accelerator
The GCBC Accelerator is part of the Global Capacity Building Coalition, a global initiative bringing together leading organizations working to strengthen sustainable finance capacity in emerging markets and developing economies.
The 2026 Accelerator is intended to help promising organizations overcome barriers that prevent countries from turning climate and development priorities into well-designed, financeable and implementable country platforms.
Organizations with established climate finance, sustainable finance, investment planning, technical advisory, or capacity-building initiatives are encouraged to apply.
