Applications are open for the UN Youth Strategy — Youth2030: Global Briefing for Youth Networks.

In 2018, the United Nations Secretary-General introduced Youth2030, the organization’s first unified approach to engaging young people across all UN agencies. Since its inception, notable progress has been made—numerous scorecards and assessments have highlighted how both UN entities and country teams are integrating youth-focused programming into their operations. As of now, over 60 UN bodies and 132 UN Country Teams are involved in executing the strategy, contributing data and insights for the annual Youth2030 Progress Reports.

The second phase of Youth2030—covering the years 2025 to 2030—was officially launched earlier this year. Developed by the Youth2030 Joint Working Group (JWG) since August 2024 and endorsed by the High-Level Steering Committee (HLSC) in December 2024, this new phase builds on the accomplishments of the initial 2018–2024 period. It further aligns with the foundational and priority areas of the UN Youth Strategy, offering a refined set of actions aimed at closing gaps and confronting emerging global issues affecting youth development.

Youth-led organizations continue to play a pivotal role in shaping and guiding the implementation of the strategy.

They are active participants in the HLSC and JWG, and also serve as co-leads of the Task Teams responsible for putting the strategy into practice—each Task Team is coordinated by a UN agency, youth group, and the UN Youth Office.

Additionally, more than 15 youth-focused organizations representing various constituencies across the UN system were involved in discussions that informed the direction of Phase Two.

Furthermore, the Youth2030 Focus Group, facilitated by the Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY), remains a central space for young people and youth organizations around the world to contribute feedback and engage equitably in shaping the strategy.

To support the transition into this new phase, a virtual briefing session is being held to introduce youth networks to the updated strategic priorities and to provide information on how to get involved in the next chapter of Youth2030.
