FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the University of Edinburgh Mastercard Foundation online learning program 2026/27

Applications are now being accepted for the 2026/2027 Mastercard Foundation Online Learning Scholars Programme at the University of Edinburgh. This initiative seeks to identify and support outstanding young individuals from Africa who have demonstrated strong academic performance, leadership potential, and resilience in overcoming educational challenges. It is specifically designed for those who are passionate about advancing their education and contributing to their communities while continuing to study within their home environments.

The online learning option offers a flexible and accessible way for students to earn a respected qualification without the need to relocate. All online degrees awarded by the University of Edinburgh hold the same value and recognition as those delivered on campus, ensuring that participants receive a world-class education from anywhere in the world.

Applicants may choose between two main academic tracks: a part-time postgraduate diploma lasting up to two years, or a part-time master’s degree that can be completed within three years. Master’s programmes are intended for individuals who already hold an undergraduate degree and wish to deepen their expertise in a related field or professional area. Those who have previously obtained a postgraduate qualification are not eligible to apply for the online master’s option.

The postgraduate diploma route is tailored for candidates considering a career shift or seeking practical and vocational knowledge in a new area. Graduates from any accredited African university—whether at the bachelor’s or master’s level—are welcome to apply, provided that they can present their final academic transcripts and degree certificates by the deadline for submission.

Scholarships are available exclusively for a select number of online programmes that focus on cultivating leaders in the field of climate action. All Mastercard Foundation Scholars enrolled at the University of Edinburgh will take part in a dedicated Climate Leadership Programme aimed at empowering them to play an active role in addressing environmental challenges. Through this initiative, the Mastercard Foundation seeks to foster a network of innovative, driven, and compassionate changemakers across Africa who are committed to creating sustainable solutions for their communities and the planet.
