COP 30: Apply for the Youth Climate Action Lab: COP30 Edition (YCAL COP30) Programme for Young Asia-Pacific changemakers
Applications are open for the Youth Climate Action Lab: COP30 Edition (YCAL COP30), a unique program designed to empower young changemakers from across the Asia-Pacific who will be taking part in the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Belém, Brazil from 10 to 21 November 2025. Running from 26 September to 17 October 2025, this initiative provides intensive training, mentorship, and networking designed to prepare participants for active and impactful engagement at COP30 and in their future climate advocacy efforts.
The program aims to strengthen connections between youth leaders in the region while deepening their understanding of international climate negotiations and priority issues within the UNFCCC framework. By joining, participants gain access to a comprehensive learning experience that enhances leadership, advocacy, and collaboration skills, enabling them to influence climate policy and action both during COP30 and beyond.
Developed and implemented by the Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP) in partnership with UNDP, the UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Centre for Asia-Pacific, UNICEF East Asia-Pacific, UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia, and YOUNGO, this edition builds upon the momentum created in previous years. Through a mix of workshops, mentorship, and simulations, YCAL COP30 equips young leaders with the tools to contribute meaningfully to climate negotiations while amplifying youth perspectives on the global stage.
Participants can expect to gain practical insight into COP and UNFCCC processes, explore key themes such as climate finance, adaptation, resilience, climate justice, and just transitions, and receive direct guidance from seasoned negotiators and advocates. The experience also includes negotiation practice, action planning, and opportunities to connect with a wide network of peers, policymakers, and climate champions.
They are inviting applications from young people across the Asia-Pacific region, particularly those who are passionate about climate advocacy, engaged in community-based initiatives, or interested in learning more about international climate governance. Youth advocates, activists, and professionals—including girls, young people with disabilities, and individuals from indigenous or marginalized backgrounds—are especially encouraged to apply. First- and second-time COP attendees who want to strengthen their knowledge and skills are also welcome.
The deadline to submit applications is 10 September 2025. It is important to note that this program does not provide financial support or COP30 participation quotas, but instead focuses on preparing those already planning to attend with the expertise and networks needed to make their presence count.
