The Government of Hungary has opened applications for the 2026 Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme, one of Europe’s leading initiatives designed to welcome outstanding international students to pursue their academic goals in Hungary.

Created to strengthen global academic collaboration and support the internationalisation of Hungarian higher education, the programme offers generous support for students at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, One-Tier Master’s, and Doctoral levels.

Through bilateral agreements between Hungary and partner countries, the scholarship now reaches candidates from over 90 nations, offering more than 1,200 full-degree programs across nearly every field of study. Each year, tens of thousands of applicants seek to join this unique opportunity to study in the heart of Europe.

Required Application Documents

Applicants must prepare and submit the following through the online portal:

• Completed application form

• Motivation letter

• Proof of language proficiency

• Academic certificates and transcripts (with translations)

• Medical certificate

• Passport or national ID

• Research plan (for postgraduate applicants)

• Letters of recommendation

• Portfolio or audio materials, if required by the field of study

Only submitted applications will be reviewed; saved drafts are not considered. All applications must be completed online—no physical documents are required.
