Applications are open for the Capacity Strengthening Training on the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP) 2026.
The three-day training is designed to strengthen the knowledge, practical skills and regional networks of civil society and community-based organisations working in transitional justice, peacebuilding, reconciliation, human rights, governance and related areas.
The programme will take place from 27–29 October 2026 in Naivasha, Kenya, bringing together participants from countries across the Horn of Africa and Great Lakes region.
About the Training
The training focuses on helping civil society organisations understand and apply the African Union Transitional Justice Policy in their work. Participants will explore transitional justice and reconciliation approaches, the role of civil society in policy implementation, inclusive participation, community dialogue and strategies for strengthening social cohesion.
The programme also aims to strengthen collaboration among civil society actors working across the region and enable participants to share knowledge and practical experiences from their respective countries.
The organisers particularly encourage applications from historically marginalised groups and will consider gender balance, youth participation, disability inclusion and representation across the eligible countries during selection.

The Life & Peace Institute will cover participation-related costs for successful applicants, including:

- Be willing to contribute to regional learning and networking on transitional justice and reconciliation.
