Applications are open for the 2026–2028 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Policy, and Management (MESPOM)

Aspiring environmental leaders from around the world are invited to apply for the renowned Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Policy, and Management (MESPOM). This globally recognized program is jointly offered by Central European University, Lund University, the University of Manchester, and the University of the Aegean.

The MESPOM program spans two years (120 ECTS credits) and offers a rich, interdisciplinary curriculum that bridges theory and real-world application. It focuses on sustainability, environmental policy, and management while giving students the chance to engage with diverse perspectives and develop practical skills across different countries and institutions. Students also gain valuable experience through internships, research collaborations, and professional networking opportunities.

Throughout the program, participants study at multiple partner universities. The first academic year is shared between Central European University in Vienna and the University of the Aegean in Lesvos, Greece. During the summer, students take part in internships with associated organizations or other environmental institutions. The second year continues at either Lund University in Sweden or the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, while the thesis can be completed at any of the consortium partners.

MESPOM students can specialize in areas such as sustainable energy and climate change, biodiversity and conservation, urban sustainability, sustainable production and consumption, or environmental security and justice.

To be eligible, applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance—preferably in environmental sciences, policy, management, or a related discipline. A high level of English proficiency is required, along with a demonstrated commitment to tackling environmental challenges through work, research, or volunteer experience.

Key application deadlines are as follows: February 4, 2026, for Erasmus Mundus scholarship applicants; April 15, 2026, for self-financing non-EU/EEA candidates who require a visa; and July 1, 2026, for self-financing EU/EEA applicants.

Successful candidates may receive Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s scholarships that cover travel, visa, installation, and living expenses. Graduates of the program pursue rewarding careers in government agencies, international organizations such as the UN, academia, industry, and the non-profit sector.
