FULLY FUNDED TO COP30: Apply for the Ultimo Recurso Nothing About Us Without Us COP30 challenge to attend the summit in Belem, Brazil

Applications are now open for the COP30 Challenge, an initiative of the Nothing About Us Without Us (NAUWU) project under Último Recurso (UR), based in Coimbra, Portugal. The challenge offers a unique opportunity for a young, Portuguese-speaking communicator to join the UR delegation at the 2025 UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém do Pará, Brazil. The selected participant will contribute to storytelling, digital content creation, and communication activities that reflect the spirit and mission of NAUWU.

The program seeks passionate individuals who are creative, socially aware, and eager to use their voices to inspire change. Eligible candidates must be between 18 and 35 years old, live in a Portuguese-speaking country or community, and hold a valid passport. They should be fluent in Portuguese and proficient in English, demonstrate experience or talent in communication, storytelling, video, or social media, and share the values of justice, integrity, and collaboration. Membership or affiliation with Último Recurso is required, as well as availability for activities and travel in November 2025.

To participate, interested individuals must create and publish a short vertical video—either a Reel or TikTok, lasting no more than 60 seconds—that captures the essence of the NAUWU project and its message of inclusion and empowerment. The creative style is entirely open, whether poetic, documentary, humorous, journalistic, or symbolic. The video should be posted publicly on Instagram or TikTok, tagging @ultimorecurso__ and including the hashtags #NadaSobreNósSemNós, #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs, #DesafioCOP30, #VoiceForCOP30, and #UltimoRecurso. A short caption of up to 400 characters should accompany the video, and the public link must be submitted through the official application form. Each person may submit only one entry.

Candidates will be evaluated on creativity, originality, clarity of narrative, visual and emotional impact, technical skill, professionalism, previous contributions to UR, and engagement in its learning initiatives. The final selection will be announced on October 23, 2025. The chosen communicator will take part in pre-COP training from October 29 to November 7, 2025, and then represent NAUWU at COP30 from November 10 to 22, producing digital and visual content throughout the event. They will also help prepare a post-conference impact report between November 25 and 30.

All travel, accommodation, and daily expenses will be fully covered by Último Recurso. The selected participant will undergo a verification and preparation process, including due diligence, legal documentation, and insurance arrangements. During the program, participants are expected to uphold high ethical and professional standards, maintain responsible conduct, and represent the organization with respect and integrity.

By submitting an application, candidates agree to the full terms of participation, including granting permission for their content to be used for educational, institutional, and communication purposes. The COP30 Challenge represents not only a rare professional opportunity but also a chance to amplify youth voices from Portuguese-speaking communities in the global climate movement.
