FULLY FUNDED TO COP31, TURKEY: Call for Applications for Six Thematic Analyst Positions at the African Climate Negotiations Situation Room
INCLUDE Knowledge Platform, in partnership with the African Group of Negotiators (AGN), AU ECOSOCC, and ECOWAS, has announced a call for applications for six Thematic Analyst positions to support the African Climate Negotiations Situation Room during the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31) in Antalya, Türkiye.
The recruitment is part of an initiative designed to strengthen Africa’s participation in global climate negotiations by providing negotiators with timely intelligence, technical analysis, and evidence-based decision support. Throughout COP31, the Situation Room will provide live monitoring of negotiation texts, analytical briefings, and coordinated intelligence across the continent’s priority climate issues.
One analyst will be selected for each of six thematic areas: Loss and Damage, Climate Finance (with a focus on Adaptation Finance), Mitigation and Fossil Fuel Transition, Article 6 Carbon Markets, Technology Transfer, and Just Transition. Successful applicants will work closely with the Chief Analyst and the African Group of Negotiators to monitor negotiations, analyse emerging negotiation texts, maintain thematic position maps, and prepare rapid policy briefs that support African delegates throughout the conference.
Beyond the conference itself, selected analysts will contribute to preparations beginning in August 2026 and will also participate in post-conference reporting and evaluation activities. The consultancy will run from August to December 2026, with remote work during the preparation phase followed by full-time deployment to Antalya from 9–20 November 2026 for COP31.
Applicants should have proven expertise in one of the six thematic areas, experience supporting or participating in UNFCCC negotiations, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to produce concise, decision-ready analysis in fast-paced environments. Previous participation in COP negotiations and familiarity with the African Group of Negotiators’ coordination processes will be considered an added advantage.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter indicating their preferred thematic area, a curriculum vitae, and the contact details of two referees by 7 August 2026. Applications should be emailed to faith@includeplatform.net with the subject line “Thematic Analyst, African Climate Negotiations Situation Room.”
The African Climate Negotiations Situation Room is intended to strengthen Africa’s influence in global climate negotiations by providing negotiators with coordinated intelligence, technical expertise, and evidence-based support throughout COP31.
