FULLY FUNDED TO LEBANON: Apply for the 2025 Global South Study Week in Beirut for young activists, changemakers and professionals

Are you a dynamic young advocate from the Global South engaged in pressing issues such as economic justice, inclusive governance, climate resilience, gender equity, or digital rights? Are you championing equitable development and tackling systemic disparities in your region? Would you like to join a fully-funded, immersive week of collaborative learning, shared advocacy, and interregional solidarity in Beirut?

In collaboration with regional and international partners—including the Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND), Third World Network, Social Watch, Global Policy Forum, and the Asfari Institute at the American University of Beirut—emerging civil society leaders are invited to apply for the 2025 Global South Study Week, centered around exploring “Alternative Pathways in Governance and People-Centered Development.”

Set to take place in Beirut, Lebanon during the week of November 10, 2025, this week-long residency offers full financial support for travel and accommodation. While interpretation services will be available, a working understanding of English will enhance participants’ engagement throughout the program.

This unique initiative offers participants the opportunity to connect with fellow changemakers from across the Global South, deepen their understanding of international development dynamics, and explore transformative approaches to current global policy models. The Study Week encourages lasting collaboration by connecting participants with a wider network of alumni and regional actors committed to long-term engagement.

With a legacy of fostering shared action around common development challenges, the Study Week equips civil society representatives with the tools and knowledge to sharpen their contributions to global discourse. It promotes collective action that is rooted in justice, equity, and the lived realities of Global South communities.

The program seeks energetic, committed individuals under the age of 40, who originate from countries in the Global South and hold a university degree in disciplines such as development studies, economics, sociology, international affairs, or human rights. Applicants must also be affiliated with or supported by an organization working at the grassroots, national, or regional level. Ideal candidates are already engaged in policy advocacy or organizational coordination on topics such as economic development, global financial systems, environmental sustainability, agricultural policy, or social equity—especially through the lenses of gender and justice.
